Domestic Violence

Domestic violence is defined as abuse by one partner against the other party in a marriage or other intimate relationship.

Pushing, shoving, hitting, sexual and assault are all forms of domestic abuse, but not all forms of domestic abuse are physical. Stalking, intimidation, isolating a partner from others, withholding money and emotional abuse of all kinds are also considered domestic violence.

Divorce can trigger domestic violence and the danger of serious violence is at its highest point when a person acts on a decision to leave an abusive relationship.

At Langley Law Firm, we unfortunately encounter more and more of these cases, but in each one, we always stress safety for both parties and strive to find ways to avoid further domestic violence in the future.
